Whether you are British or not, I’m sure all of you have heard and saw coverage of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. This year marked Queen Elizabeth’s 60 years on the royal throne. The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee took place on the weekend of June 2nd and was an event filled with glitz and glamour. Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation took place on June 2, 1953, and she is only the second monarch in the United Kingdom to make it to a Diamond Jubilee, her great-great grandmother, Queen Victoria, was the first.
The greatest thing about these events is the fashion that comes with them. This was an event packed with beautiful clothing and of course beautiful shoes!
Always a fashion icon, Catherine Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, wore a beautiful pair of nude coloured L.K. Bennett court pumps. Those shoes got a lot of mileage during the celebration, as Kate was seen wearing them with a customized Alexander McQueen dress in a brilliant red to the Jubilee Flotilla Pageant, and to the St. Paul’s Thanksgiving Service, where she wore another stunning Alexander McQueen dress.
Kate wasn’t the only royal donning beautiful shoes. Both, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice both wore fabulous pairs of Kurt Geiger shoes to the St. Paul’s Thanksgiving Service.
Harrod’s in London also showcased a very special-edition shoe in honor of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. British designer Aruna Seth designed the shoes. The wedges contain 3000 Swarovski crystals (all of which were put on by hand) and feature the Union Jack British Flag. Only 10 pairs were made and carried a price tag of £3000 ($4600).
This event had everyone showcasing his or her fabulous fashion and style. All in all, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee was an amazing celebration of the life of a remarkable monarch.
