Top 6 Shoe Collection For Spring/Summer 2012 Posted by: Tanalina Post Date: March 23, 2012 No Comments

Hey there shoe lovers, the days are getting warmer and the sun is shining, that means spring is in the air! I don’t know about you, but this is my favourite time of year for shoes. You get to brighten up your wardrobe with some great colours, and best of all, you get to free your toes from the confines of socks and closed toed shoes. It’s a great excuse to go and pamper yourself with a wonderfully relaxing pedicure, to get your tootsies ready for your favourite open toed shoes.

There are so many great styles and colours of shoes coming out this year that it’s going to be so hard to decide which ones to buy first! The originality, shape, colour palette and range of styles offered, make these 6 shoe collections my top choices for spring/summer 2012.

  1. My first choice has to be Manolo Blahnik. I’ve fallen in love with every pair I’ve seen. This collection is everything I love about spring – colourful and fresh, and to top it all off, one of its biggest inspirations is flowers! Who doesn’t love flowers?

Their unique shape will hug the contours of your feet, and make any foot look beautiful. For this season Manolo Blahnik has introduced a truly original heel shape made up of small spheres. They range from one sphere, for those girls who love their Kitten Heels, to 6 small round balls, stacked on top of one another for a high heel look.

  2. Second in line is the Spring/Summer Collection from Corso Como. The best thing about this collection, are the embellishments. Studs and frills, so fun! With a wide variety of colours and styles, this collection has everything. From flat pretty shoes, great for long walks on the boardwalk with that special someone, to super sexy stilettos for amazing nights out with the girls, you can’t go wrong with Corso Como.

  3. For the inner rock chick in all of us, Prada comes in at number 3 to satisfy that urge to be ‘wild’ we all have from time to time. These shoes are sizzling hot and make the perfect party shoe! Prada’s collection this season is nothing but one of a kind. With flame tips and bright colours, these shoes make us think of speed and adrenaline, and they make me want to dance! Who needs energy drinks, when you have Prada?

  4. Gaetano Perrone has always been a favourite of mine. The collections always tend to be classy and elegant. This year’s spring/summer collection has topped all other years. I am certainly a girl who likes things a little fancy, and I know I’m not alone in that. This collection is all about fancy, and all about showing off at those special occasions. Who wouldn’t want to wear these to a great summer wedding?

  5. For those of you looking for something bold and romantic, then the spring/summer D&G collection is definitely for you! This collection is not exactly work appropriate, with its high platforms and bold design, but for those romantic walks with your special someone after that really amazing summer date, these are perfect.

  6. And last but not least, the always-fabulous Christian Louboutin. This collection is classic and elegant in its style. These are shoes that can be worn in the office and out on the town. They will make the rest of your wardrobe jealous because of their beauty. The collection showcases shoes in every colour of the rainbow, which makes it easy to find a pair to go with your favourite summer outfit. Wearing these with your favourite pair of white capris is sure to put a spring in your step.

I hope all my fashionistas out there enjoyed my list of favourites for the season. In order to make sure you are comfortable while wearing all of these amazing shoes for the season, remember that Tana carries a fabulous line of comfort products for heels, just click here for more details.

The Dangers of Wearing 4 inch Heels Posted by: Tanalina Post Date: March 13, 2012 1 Comment

Okay ladies, it’s time for a more serious topic. Like me, you love your shoes, but there are some things you should know the next time you slip your high heels on. The higher the heel, the more likely you’ll end up with foot problems.

When you wear a heel, 3 or 4 inches high, it takes away the natural shock absorption of your foot. The higher the heel the more pressure you put on the ball of your foot. With your foot unable to absorb the shock, that leaves it to your ankle, your knee, your hip, and your lower back to do the job. The most common injuries are tendon and muscle strains, hammertoes, bunions, ingrown toenails, and stress fractures. Long-term high heel wearers could suffer from tendonitis, severe ankle sprains, and torn ligaments and tendons. Remember ladies; pain is your body’s way of warning you that something is wrong.

Now, no one expects that you will stop dressing in heels altogether, but by limiting the amount of time you wear them, and the heels height, you will be doing yourself a favour. Doctors also recommend massaging your feet and rolling them over a golf ball or ice cube when you take off your shoes at night and gripping a towel and holding your foot up for 15 seconds, three times a day, to help strengthen the intrinsic muscles of the foot.

Here are a few tips on how to keep your feet healthy:

  1. Wearing a shorter heel will cause fewer problems. To keep that elongated look that we all love, make the shorter heel a thin stiletto type.
  2. Limit the length of time spent wearing high heels. Try wearing a commuter shoe to and from where you are going, and putting your high heels on when you get to your destination.
  3. Have those beautiful designer shoes custom fit to your feet by taking them to a pedorthist (person who selects, makes and/or modifies footwear and foot control devices).
  4. Buy a larger size than you would usually and use heel cups for a more comfortable fit.
  5. Use products like the Tana Heel Liner, 3in1 Comfort Insoles and Ball of Foot Gel pads which can all be found here
  6. And lastly, let your toes be free by wearing open toed shoes.

The bottom line is ladies, your feet have to last you a lifetime. So be good to them!

Mercedes Benz – Fashion Week Posted by: Tanalina Post Date: March 6, 2012 No Comments

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

As you may or may not know, the fabulous Mercedes-Benz Fashion week ran from February 9, 2012 to February 16, 2012, and this year’s show was exceptionally colourful. The show was held at the Lincoln Center in New York City, and for all those who were lucky enough to attend, I couldn’t be greener with envy (thank goodness green is my colour).

For all my shoe fashionistas out there, this year’s show featured sooooooooo many gorgeous shoes.  Designers from Oscar de la Renta and Peter Som, to the amazingly original shoes from the Skaist-Taylor presentation, and all designers in between showcased their wonderful collections.  With vibrant colours, great materials and textures, the shoes at this year’s show were a feast for the eyes. Many of the styles displayed were saturated with rich, warm, colours such as coral, peach and orange.

I have included pictures of a few of my favorites below:

After seeing all of the great collections that are coming out, I cannot wait for the spring.  So many options, and so many great styles to chose from, this spring will certainly be an great one for all of you shoe lovers.
